The Narwhal Collection

We believe that by giving children choices we are, in essence, teaching them to be agents of change. By being aware of oneself and understanding oneself through artmaking, a person can develop the capacity to give to others, to listen to others, and to understand another perspective through empathy. Narwhal Magic Kindness has partnered with The Yellow Line to create The Narwhal Collection. Three meticulously crafted art lessons help parents, teachers, and caretakers engage kids, ages 7 and up, by teaching them to observe, express, and imagine. Our art projects exist to reinforce the belief that every child has individual agency. Through art, we can discuss, celebrate, and nurture human differences.

By teaching kids to literally think about the importance of the spaces in between, we are teaching kids to think freely about life and the future of the world that THEY will determine and inherit. The project introduces kids to basic color theory and the elements of line and shape painting techniques. Each child will make a painted design that divides the paper with a repetitive shape and introduces different shapes or marks between the lines.

This drawing and watercolor project introduces the idea that nature, including people, is varied and wonderful. By observing all the varieties of nature, we can imagine our own diversity to be beautiful, even if we don’t match some of the labels society creates. Drawing and painting teaches kids to slow down, observe the visual characteristics of nature, and express what they see and feel. By empathizing with observed forms that they have the power to change, they begin to explore the idea of gender fluidity and expression. Designed for ages 7 and up.

An art project that puts your students’ beautiful eyes on center stage! This project introduces kids to observational drawing and expressionistic storytelling. By teaching kids to observe their own eyes, we are teaching kids to value their bodies, and their thoughts. By creating a drawing of their story and eyes, kids are able to visually express what is in their soul. Designed for ages 7 and up.
